PELHAM CIVICS TREATS THE PELHAM SENIOR CITIZENS TO AN OKTOBERFEST LUNCHEON!
One of the core tenants of the Pelham Civic Association is to assist and support our seniors. This was never more evident than recently when the Daronco Town House was transformed into a true Oktoberfest experience for this remarkable group: The Pelham Senior Citizens Club. Pelham Civics Board of Director Member Harry Wasilchak, who spearheaded and organized this event, explained: “We owe so much to our seniors here in Town. They had raised their families here, and decided to stay, and continue to call Pelham their home. They serve as an inspiration to us all. It was so rewarding to have the opportunity of giving back a little to this noble generation, with a wonderful and spirited Oktoberfest Luncheon just for them!”
The Pelham Civic Association provides continued support for senior citizens in our community throughout the year through donations and sponsorship of health and finance seminars and other educational and fun programs at the Daronco Town House such as Tai Chi lessons.

We have recently begun hosting a series of free seminars whose subject matter is tailored to the specific needs and interests of seniors. The topics range from financial issues to nutritional tips.
The one-hour presentations have dealt with:
- Medicare and Medicaid advice
- Tips on Social Security
- Protection from Scams
- Eating better to control diabetes
- Managing your medications
These are opportunities to join your neighbors and learn from the experts about the things you should know, and what you should do NOW.
The noontime sessions are held at the R.J. Daronco Town House, at 20 Fifth Avenue in Pelham.
Complimentary refreshments are served. But seating is limited, so for more information, or to reserve a place at our next seminar, please call Mike Mondrone, the Pelham Civic Senior Citizens Chairman, at 886-3593.
