Pelham Civics & PMHS Guidance Department Present Successful Career Workshop on “The Business of Politics”

Todd Cross, Pelham Civic Association member, said it best, “Pelham is a small town with a big heart.” It was never more obvious than when on Tuesday morning February 6 at Pelham Memorial High School, the Pelham Civics and the PMHS Guidance Department presented their second in this year’s series of Career Awareness Workshops. This one featured “The Business of Politics”.
Todd continued, “It was ‘politics aside’ as the panelists displayed a spirit of camaraderie, focusing solely on the students. They provided the well-attended workshop with numerous ways to get involved… and even encouraged them to run for office. It was also clearly explained to the students that once the elections are over the real task at hand is actually governing.”
The guest panelists were Cristina Lang, Director of Constituent Services for New York State Senator Jeffrey D. Klein; Jay Wegimont, Staff Assistant to Congressman Elliot L. Engel; and Michael Recca, Westchester County Program Specialist, and Pelham Civic Association member. (Recca is a PMHS alum, along with Cristina.)
Michael Clain, Pelham Civic Board Member and Chair of the Career Workshop Program added, “We very much appreciate the cooperation of Eugene Farrell and his staff of the Pelham Guidance Department in helping us coordinate these workshops. The positive reactions from the students lead us to believe that these sessions are ‘making a difference’.”
